Or is it gonna be as cheap to get ready built system. No I dont need monitor, got 22" tft

Okey doke.

Regarding the drives you currently have, you could put them in enclosures. I use Icybox enclosures for my old drives, cost about 30 quid each.

500gb sata2 drives will give you a good cost per gb, so I'll spec them. The 750gb and 1Tb drives are well overpriced at the moment in comparison.

Come back to you as soon as i can. On a related point i also do a lot of filming/editing, mainly of mountain biking and work related things, so I can understand where your need for storage comes from.

Right, havn't spec'd a case or a monitor.

Considering your quoted usage I completely agree over the 4gb ram, and whilst you've said you're not a gamer you're still going to need a lot of ram on the card for what you're using the pc for, (and taking into account the 1680x1050 resolution),at least 256mb. Hence the card quoted. Plus it's the largest card that will fit in the case without causing too much hassle for the airflow.

The optical drive is lightscribe and labelflash capable as well making storing any discs you create easier to find.

The motherboard is spec'd on a bang for buck basis and also taking into consideration the case you're getting, hence only supporting 6 sata2 drives.

I've only quoted 2 of the hdd's, add to this as you see fit. But you won't find better at that capacity than the one's quoted.

Asus P5K-E/WIFI-AP, iP35, S 775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 1066/667/800, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX £114.55

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750, S775, 2.66 GHz, 1333MHz FSB, Conroe Core, 4MB Cache, Retail £129.24

Samsung S182M-RSMM 18x DVD±R, 8x DVD±DL, DVD+RW x8/-RW x6, DVD-RAM x12, IDE, Multicolour, Retail, LS £20.32

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro - P4 up to 4.4GHz - S775 Dual Core / Core2Duo Ready £15.97

320MB EVGA 8800GTS, PCI-E (x16), Mem 1600MHz, GPU 500MHz, 96 Streams, 2x Dual Link DVI-I/HDTV £189.16

500 Gb HGST (IBM/Hitachi) 0A33437 Deskstar 7K500, SATA300, 7200 rpm, 16MB Cache, 8.5 ms, NCQ £139.80

2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12, EPP £166.78

620W Enermax Liberty Modular Series SLi - ELT620AWT aPFC ATX2.2 2xPCI-E 12cm Quiet Fan £97.40

Havn't quoted a souncard because of the decent onboard sound. But if you need this give me a shout.

Total cost is just over 880 quid. All spec'd from www.scan.co.uk

Nope, won't need 64bit XP.

I was just messing. :D

Even so, 8x 750GB drives, be a bit overkill no?

Depends how much you do, and if you back it all up.

2GB should suffice considering your o.s is XP, see how you go. Yup, the mobo has 4 ram slots.
