i dont see the point in locking the front door unless you have it in a public place and you dont want it turned off or the cd stolen etc, my bedroom room isnt very public though (insert sex joke here)

I think the locked doors are mainly intended for LAN parties etc, but I still don't see the point, after all, everyone at a LAN party is there to play games and have fun, someone isn't going to go round turning people's PC's of or trying to steal their CD's

I also think that it's for if the computer is used as a server - stops people turning them off if it's in a school for example. I also always lock it before I go on holiday just incase.

who's going to sneek into your house when your on holiday to turn off your computer? and I very much doubt and case like that will be used in a school, if it's for a server, there won't be enough room, If it's for students, it costs too much when they can get a cheapy £5-£10 plan case to use.

Not sneak in to turn it off - if it's locked then if anyone breaks in, then they are (hopefully) less inclined to steal it as it will involve breaking the case.

Also, there could be enough room for a server - we have many servers at our school and some just sit on the floor in the server room whilst others are rack mounted.

ah, you've got a small school then, our 6th form network is huge. I got a quick tour of the system because I'm doing a networking course with the network manager and it comprises of a room (about the same size as a small classroom) full of server racks, then another distribution center (about the size of a cupboard) with a single rack in on each floor.

I'm not entirely sure of the exact layout - I've only seen a small section of it. I know there are loads though.

There's over 600 machines on the network to deal with after all!

ok, that's more than I thought, I think we probably have around 1000 or so, not sure though, maybe I'll ask on Wednesday on my next class if I remember and drop you a PM about it. But actually now we are too off topic, so I'll make this my last post on this off topic subject.
