Default PC to TV using RCA Cable Sound problem

Hi,

I have a RCA cable connecting my PC to my TV. The image works fine & the audio works fine for some movies that i play.
BUT for some movies that i watch the background sound comes through to the TV speakers but the voice sound does not come through (i.e. i cant hear the people talking in the movie). The sound that is coming through to the TV speakers tends to fluctuate a bit in volume.
If i remove the audio cable & keep the video cable on (so the video is still going to the TV but audio is coming from PC speakers) then the sound is fine from my PC speakers.

The cable can't be faulty as it is brand new and works with some movies fine.
I'm assuming it is something to do with the settings or codecs i have but i'm not really sure.

Please could you let me know if you have a solution for this.

Thanks in advance.

Shuja.

Could you make it clear, is your sound card in your PC set up for Dolby 5:1 but you are only sending 2 channels to the TV?

Default PC to TV using RCA Cable Sound problem

I'm not sure. It might be possible.
All i know is that some movies i watch don't have the voice sound coming through to the TV but when i remove the audio cable from the PC the voice sound comes out fine from the PC speakers (although video is still being transmitted to TV).

Could you guide me thru how to setup my PC to transfer audio as dolby 5:1 to my TV? I'm not sure how to set this up.

Regards,

Shuja

It may just be that your sound system needs changing, but the method is different on each one.

A good place to start is in the Control Panel, Sounds and Audio. Search around and see if there is a possibility of switching it to stereo, as I assume you are only using two audio RCA cables? If you have six outputs on your PC then you may need six cables. Also, if you have an optical cable output/input that will be better.

A phono to scart cable may work better too.
