Today I decided to fix a recent computer of mine that went "bad" according to some tech guys I had spoken to. After testing out all of the possible problems, it ended up being my case that was giving the system the issues. I bought an Antec 900 II for my computer, and after transfering all of my components everything worked like new. I decided to change my computers FSB just a little bit (+15) to see if I could slowly start to overclock it. It restarted, said some message about "A new processor is being detected...DO NOT turn off power"...it shut off, and tried to restart but does not do anything. Now, the most I can get out of it is the case fans turning on, the GPU fan spinning, and the lights on the motherboard to show that their is power. Nothing appears on the screen, so I do not even know if I can try some alternate boot methods/bios utilities. Does anyone have any suggestions? Specs Mobo- Asus P5n-D CPU- intel core 2 duo 2.66ghz GPU- 2 nvidia 9800 GT's Ram- patriot 2gb (two 1 gig sticks) PSu- 1000 watt newton powers (came out of an alienware) On another build I did a few months ago, everything went great and have had no issues except for 1. Every now and then, when the computer loses power in an a "strange" way (power dies in the house, surge protector shuts off, holding power button for 7 seconds) when reconnecting the power, the lights on the motherboard will just flicker, on and off, and nothing responds. It tends to fix itself after about 20 minutes of being unplugged. Is this just a safety feature that my motherboard has? or is this some off shorting of the board? Specs Mobo- Asus P5Q Deluxe CPU- Intel core 2 duo 3ghz @ 3.8 ghz GPU- ati 4870 (512 mb) PSU- 650 watt corsair Ram- 4 gigs, (two 2 gig sticks) Sorry for the walls of text, but I wanted to be descriptive

Not sure about the second one I'll have to have a think. As far as the first one goes, it looks like an OC isnt working well. Remove the CMOS battery, go have a cup of your favourite beverage then pop it back in, will reset the CMOS and setting back to normal and your PC will be all fine and dandy.

Tried removing the CMOS battery, let it sit for about 10 minutes. Replaced the battery, and it resulted in the same thing. Any ideas?

Got your PM, sorry I didnt respond. Try testing the components in another system piece by piece, find out if ones broken

| Try this method for clearing the cmos :

Remove the power lead and locate th 3-pin jumper block (next to the cmos battery. The jumper should be in the normal position (pins 1 and 2). Remove the jumper, then place it on pins 2 and 3 for about 10secs to clear the CMOS. Then put the jumper back on pins 1 and 2. My System: Home Build
