I have had a Panasonic Let's Note CF-W5 laptop for about 2.5 years. My performance has been a huge problem over the last few months. I do not use it for video games or for graphics. Basically, I use browsers to surf the net or go to regular websites, I use it for watching videos, I use outlook express as an e-mail client, and I often use Microsoft Word or similar applications. Even when running only a small number of applications at the same time I have problems and freezing.

I recently re-installed XP. I have been using super-anti spyware, to keep the junk out. The other day I went out and bought 1GB of memory to add to my existing memory. Now I have 1.5 GB total. The guy at the shop recommended getting a new HD.
Any other recommendations aside from buying a new PC

If you are running a fresh install of Windows and have 1.5GB of ram there isn't much else you can do, there is also no reason why your machine shouldn't be fast now. You didn't say if these changes made a difference.

I haven't noticed any difference since installing the extra GB of memory. At least I'm still having problems.

Could well be it's age and the hard drive's getting slower now. Could be heat, which is hard to fix in laptops, could be another part just getting old and slow, PC's have a mind of their own.

Would be hard to pinpoint your problem
