| hello! i am not great with computers and have a problem on my pc that i cant fix... my new video ipod doesn't connect to my itunes that i used with my old shuffle. the apple site told me that i may need to upgrade my itunes .. whilst downloading new itunes i get a pop up saying something along the lines of "cant stop ipodservice- check you have privelages to stop system services". how do i check this?! i have tried alll sorts of things, but really dont know what i am doing, so could be causing more harm that good. i have windows Xp many thanks :) |

| First uninstall iTunes. That should stop the service, but you seem to be running as a non-administrator. Try right clicking the task bar and starting Task Manager. On its Processes tab, find iPodService.exe, highlight it and stop it by clicking End Process. If you can't do this, you are not an administrator. Is there an option to login an administrator when you start the PC? Try holding down F8 at boot and starting in Safe Mode and you may see Administrator as a possible login name. Try a blank password.
