Well I got this refurbished Dell from ebay. I get it out of the box and it starts up just fine :) I had it for maybe three days when the problem started. Now after about 5-10 minutes green lines appear on the screen and the whole computer freezes. When you restart the computer it starts to beep. SO.. if anyone could possibly tell me what the heck is wrong here PLEASE do!!!

Sounds like something's overheating. Open it up and clean it out =)

Also, search on Dell's web site for the beep codes for your computer. It may be something easy like memory or video (that's assuming it's a desktop - could you post your computer's model?), and sometimes just reseating those will make the problem go away. The beep codes should indicate generally where the problem is.

If it was RAM or video, the PC would have had the problem since start up, not after 5-10 mins of use.
Sounds like a heat issue. If it isn't then I'd say it was a Windows problem with a delayed startup service or application. |
