Is this possible?

Well when I have my new build, I will have 2 computers, so I was wondering, is it possible to get a KVM that switches 2 computers to 2 monitors? so I can have duel screen on both systems when I want to.

Thanks

Yeah they are around, but not cheap .... check out <Link hidden. Register for free to see this link!> models

If you go ahead with it, it might be a good idea to ring them and discuss your exact requirements though .... just to be sure the model you choose will give you the exact results you require, as it can get a bit complicated.

Also have a good read of the manual on line.

hmm, they are what I want, but they are much more expensive than I thought I might have to do without then.

Hmm, I just came up with an idea, I don't know how good it is but I wanted other people's opinions, I was thinking, maybe I could make my own? Basicly what I would do, is get a bunch of transistor chips and a switch and get the switch to switch between two sets of transistors that change the video and USB connectors? Does anyone know if this would work? or would it seriously hinder the quality?

You need to check the bandwidth when you buy KVM anything. If you're pushing a big screen with high resolution some can't cope, just like some cables can't.

oh, ok, I didn't know some had limits, however I only have a 19" and a 17" screen (both 1280*1024 res) so I don't think there would be a problem for me with that seeing as thats quite low by todays standards.

If you look on EBay, you will find hundreds of them. Here's one 4 port unit I found

<Link hidden. Register for free to see this link!>

Some are 2 port, some 3 or more. Be sure to get one that has the switch AND Cables.

I use many of these and I have several brands, but the one I have the most is Belkin. Miniview is also a good one. Be advised though that the USB units may not let you into the BIOS setup or any other features that are accessed before windows boots.

Good luck and let us know how you make out!
