im thinking of creating my first gaming pc and i was wandering if anyone could give me any tips, im thinking of playing games like NFS: Prostreet, COD 4: Modern Warfare, Sims 2, GTA IV, Race driver: Grid, Assassins Creed, these are probably games that i want soon
1st things 1st: does anyone think this is a good starting point: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...22875&DOY=28m4 i will purchase another 1GB RAM, if it is desperitaly needed although, i dont own any of the games at the moment its just what i am wanting i think it might be good enough but i dowt the onboard graphics would be good enough what do you think? plus if anyone could tell if i could get the same specs as the motherboard from maplins but at a cheaper price. 2nd: if people do not think, that the onboard graphics card is any good, can anyone reccommened a good graphics card that is under £30 |

Have you got an overall budget? and if you are wanting to play games on high settings (I only know about COD4) you will need a gfx card, onboard ones are good enough for working, and very light gaming, but anything serious you need to purcase another card. Also I wouldn't surgest going with AMD unless that is all you can afford, even then I would proabbly recomend for you to wait till you can afford an Intel core 2

OK, well first, is £150 the total budget? if so, your not going to get that great of a computer for gaming for that, seeing as a good gfx card, processor are about that each, let me know if you can go higher, otherwise I will have a little look, see what I can wrap together for that price.

yea i suppose i might be able to strech to £180 im just getting ideas, im only 16 lol, but i wont go for the high end gaming instantly, obviously, i just need to increase, also i can need a psu, but i can get a 350w for 19.99 so i suppose i have 160 to spend
EDIT: im also using an old computer case, the only thing is, im not sure if its even an ATX case, hopefully that will save me 30, 40 quid |

ok, well i'll have a little look see what I can get together for £160
EDIT: do you want it to be able to be upgraded without to much extra cash, or rarther cheaper and need to buy more when you next upgrade? and do you need anything more than, motherboard, processor, ram, gfx card? for example, do you need a hdd etc? |

This is a hopeless case on that budget.

If you want to have a PC that has any hope of playing those games at even medium settings you need to buy 2nd hand. Meaning build your own from 2nd hand parts or just look for a gaming PC that is a few years old. My System: Krlll

ok, well i'm looking and it's quite hard for that price, personally, I would wait for a while (maybe till a birthday etc for money from prezzies) and can you give me the specs of your current computer? and i'll see how much better it would actually be spending that amount of a computer

A little harsh krlll, but yes I agree, it probably would be better going second hand, or waiting for more cash, but depending on the build at the moment it might be better to keep it how it is.
