I'm just wondering what kind of price range I should be looking at if I want to build a above average to high end gaming system.
I will most likely be buying all parts of the computer and I will probably get them from Newegg.
Any suggestions for parts and price?

Beware the first direct 10 graphics cards are out in November none of the graphics cards out right now will run games using vistas full direct 10 graphics.
Most graphics cards will not run HD movie disks. If you want AMD processors then only get an AM2 socket motherboard and DDR 2 Ram. A really high end gaming machine will have two graphics cards so a Power supply unit of 800watt is the minumum to run two Series 8 graphics cards.

This is what I would buy money no object. All the hardware is the best their is the graphics card and CPU are out in November.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Quad Core
Motherboard ?
Ram DDR 2, 800 2Gb
Graphics Card Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX 768 MB
Sound Card: Creative Labs X-Fi
PSU: Tagan 500 Watt
