Default Problems with joystick

I have just finished installing XP Pro on my new computer, got all updates
etc.

Now I want to setup my joystick so I plug it in to the USB port. I notice it
appears in the game controllers list however it is listed as 3 axis 4 button
which is incorrect, so I try to remove it. I click remove and get asked if I
am sure, so I click yes. I then get an error message "The device you have
selected can not be removed from here. Please use the device manager."

Ok I think, unplug the joystick and it disappears from the list. I then
click "Add", select 2 axis 4 button joystick, click ok and I get an error
message again "Your gameport or gameport drivers are not properly configured.
Please consult the device manager."

Any ideas? All help greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Tom

Default Problems with joystick

Remove the device again, use the drivers that came with the joystick, then plug it in.

The drivers that came with the device are on a floppy disk, and I don't have a floppy drive.

I just don't know why it won't let me add/remove anything and what it wants me to do in the device manager.

The drivers need to be installed before you install it. You can't do anything with Windows.

Post the name of the joystick and I'll find the drivers on the web.
