Default Quite a serious problem?

Right first of I posted in here as I thought of it as the most suitable board,

After putting in my new thermal take blue orb fx cpu fan I am having a problem.

When turning the pc on all the fans and everything power-up but the power light does not come on, instead the hardrive light remains on. The monitor doesn't come on.

I have checked and power/hardrive/reset lights/buttons are all in correctly. The hardrive is also plugged in properly. Absolutely everything is plugged in and so its leading me to belive there is a hardware failure. I was de-static'd before I did anythng.

The only thing I didn't do is use is that thermal glue stuff - does that matter?

My thoughts are it's either a hardrive or a cpu failure. I would have said GPU because the screen doesn't come on but this wouldn't cause the hardrive light to remain on? Also once it's turned on the only way to turn it off is by the PSU or the plug. The PSU is powerful enough as I tryed turning it on with all the fans unplugged.

That's me done, any ideas?

Ok, problem discovered - I've bent about 5 of the outside pins on the cpu. Is it possible to bent them back or is it new CPU time. I didn't realise there was a release mechanism on the socket and so just pushed it in. Oh well you learn from your mistakes.

A quick response would be appreciated, Thanks.

I know! I thought it would be simple as I do most other stuff for my computer. I should have looked before just yanking the unit out.

I'm in the process of bending them now, the right side is all good now and they fit in the socket, now for the left

Looks good Glad you got it sorted
I did the same myself before, but I ran over it with my swivel chair lol
Needless to say it was beyond repair
