Hi guys
long time, no speak.
Built my system in the new year but am suffering from totally random re-boots.
Sometimes the machine totally re-boots three times in ten minutes & sometimes is fine for two or three weeks.
I have done a memory check (MemCheck) & temperature check (SpeedFan) and everything appears okay. The re-boots started when playing graphics intensive games but now does it when playing non-graphics games such as 'Football Manager' & I'm at a total loss now.
Thanks in advance for your help & I do appreciate what an awkward problem this may be to solve,

Slime.

P.S. I'm on XP SP3, Asus P5Q-Pro, Q6600 Quad Core, Sapphire HD4870 & nothing has been overclocked.
P.P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, not sure if it's a hardware or software thing.

Cleaned all your fans, thoroughly?

Also if you have 2+ sticks of RAM remove one and alternate, regardless of what memtest says.

Failing that get a new PSU.

Thanks Hybr!d,
will try the 'stick of Ram' test & report back as & when.
As for the PSU, it is only a few months old & am told they are generally very reliable. It's a 650W TX Corsair PSU.
Fans are all spinning & case is cleaned out every month.
Thanks for your help mate,

Slime.

Even small amounts of dust cause overheating, spinning fans are not enough, 0 dust is essential in/on/around fans and heatsinks. Electrical stuff can be faulty 5mins after leaving the factory so age means nothing really.

Hi,
for future reference, can you suggest the best utilities for temperature checking/monitoring & also for testing memory.
Thanks all,

Slime,
