My newly built computer likes to shut down randomly, usually right during boot up or if I start playing a video game. Why is this? I doubt it would be overheating since my case is well ventilated.
My mobo is ASUS P5N32-E SLI, Core2Duo CPU, Thermaltake Armor case, Thermaltake 700W PSU, HITACHI deskstar HDD. Thanks |

By connection do you mean the clips into the mobo? Or what?
Because im pretty darn sure the fan is clipped in. |

Run TAT in the background under load conditions (game, or hit the 100% load button). See if your temps get high. This is really the most common cause of your shutdown problem - you pointed out in the OP that you don't think it's that but just make sure.

Usually I'd say it's a PSU deal, but 700W is more than enough. Check your wiring - make sure everything is securely plugged. A slight nudge, a fan spooling up, whatever could jostle a connector out of place if they're not secure. My System: 日夏子

I moved some stuff around in the case and now it works fine.
