Thanks, but it doesn't matter now lol. they had an in store special special deal at Fry's with practically everything he needed cheaper than we could buy the OEM OS alone much less the parts. (Even at Newegg). SOme buyer bought too much of something and they were blowing it out. Heck we added a 22 inch monitor to that tacky little machine and it was STILL cheaper than I could buy parts and build it for. Dang, I wanted to build another computer.

Thanks folks for the help and the willingness to provide help during the build, sorry it was all in vain. But hope springs eternal, maybe I'll get a chance to build another one...........

No problem - if it works out cheaper, that's the obvious choice.

Sorry for the delay guys, I promise it'll be soon :) The easy part was updating the old stuff, the hard part is discussing stuff like cases I know little about.

I'm also probably going to be putting together an automated web app in the future that takes a bunch of answers to questions like "are you using Crossfire?", weights them, and spits out recommendations of parts. I figure if I can do it on a flowchart, so can PHP.

I dunno, haven't benched it in a while, synthetics are not very useful anyway.

It runs great for me, plays everything I want it to play on full. Won't bother getting a new one for at least 6 months.

The only bad thing is I spent $1.7k on it last year, and now you can buy a much better system for $600!
