Default Recovering data from extrenal hard drives

Can any give me some advise on how to recovery date from a shot external hard drive. Or if anyone knows of a link that has detailed instructions that would be great as well.

Many Thanks,

The easiest way, unless of course you're very experienced, which if you're asking the question I'm guessing you're not, would be to contact a professional, there are many people and buisnesses that specialise in recovering data, but thats probably only worth it if you're hard drive is actually broken, say you dropped it from an appartement block..

If you simply deleted some data or its corrupted, or whatever then there is software available eg White Canyon's "Recover My Files"
