I'm on a friends' computer and get a reoccurring error message. First off, when the computer boots, it shows something like 4 extra USB drives and the "safely remove hardware" icon runs in the taskbar. When you click on the taskbar you get the normal messages and then the screen which shows all the items you can click to safely remove. The problem is that none of those items are attached to the computer. Along with the 4 phantom HHD's there is a USB device, a camera and something else, I forget. Under device manager on of the paths has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. It is USB mass storage device. The error message there says:
Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been prepared for "safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47) To fix this problem, unplug this device from your computer and then plug it in again. There is NOTHING plugged an external USB hub on this computer. Any clues as to what this is and how to fix it? EDIT: It shows the location as Port_#0002.Hub_#0002 |

Yeah, I think so, is that what it is? Even though it's built in it registers as external?

90% sure thats what it is. They often come up at 4 drives. And yes, it might be built in, but itll plug into a USB header on the board, open it up and have a look, if it does, whip it out and see if they vanish :-)
