first off, is it possible? if it is, how do i do it? i mean, i know that RAM data goes away when i restart the PC, but is there a way to make it does not do that? if so, i guess i could also use RAID to make a constant back up of whats on the RAM drive right? in case the data DOES go away? or would that diminish all performance gains what so ever? im really intrigued by the I-RAM thing which allows this to be done, but im not sure weather to get that or not. cuz it would cost $200 to get it with only 4GB (MAX) ram for it. so i want to do it with just my system RAM and get, oh say, 16GB total and use 10GB of that for the RAM drive. i see you can use it for a vertual machine when the PC is already booted up, but i dont want that. i wana boot my main OS from my RAM from the moment i push the button to start up. it looked like people have alrady done this on youtube, using the RAMdisk software, but i have no idea how they do it. help me on a quest to make a bootable hard drive out or RAM!

The only way I've heard to keep the data in RAM after it's powered down is to freeze it within a very small number of seconds. I mean freeze as in really heffing cold, I saw a guy do it on youtube somewhere and from this you can create RAM dumps and steal information (How you wouldn't notice a guy stood next to your ripping your PC to bits as it goes off I'll never know) As far as I know it can only be done with specific hardware..
