What does it mean when you're computer just randomly without prompt goes to a blue screen with lots of letters and numbers and then just restarts itself?

You have a serious problem, usually hardware related.

"Something's bust" is the short answer.

Long answer:

A hardware or software related problem. Could be an incompatible program, broken hardware, overheating hardware, a random occurrence, dust causing a short or something along those lines. Give your PC a good cleaning inside and see if it happens again.
