AMD athlon 64 x 2 dual core processer 3600+ 1.9 GHz 896 of ram. also can you tell me is this the same as a quad core ? and any recomendations for upgrading. thank you

It's likely too old to 'upgrade', you may be able to get a newer AM3 processor in the board you're using but it depends on the motherboard.

Unfortunately it doesn't support any newer processors, only the original Phenom which were largely terrible.

What's the upgrade for? It's likely you can get a very cheap motherboard and not spend too much more than you would originally for a new CPU. And is your case ATX or micro-ATX?

the case is a trendsonic ? I also have a centurion 532 cooler master ? what sort of money would i have to spend to get a noticeable difrence. I want to upgrade just to make it better ?

MA770 + X3 720 is probably the best path, but without knowing what you're using it for it's hard to say whether you'll get your money's worth.
