First things first. I'm hoping this is simply just your power options settings in Windows.

Assuming you're running XP, please click:

Start > Control panel > Performance and Maintenance > Power options.

On the tab that initially comes up, at the bottom is will say 'system standby' and either a time or 'never'. If this is set to a time please click the arrow and change to 'never'.

If it's already set to never then you may well have a component or components overheating as it's telling you state this happens when gaming. When gaming your pc is generally working at peak so any problems with components not being cooled sufficiently will come up then.

Lots of things but we don't know if its that yet, and it also depends exactly what (if anything) is overheating.

How did you do with the advice above?

Ok, thanks. As you didn't state you'd done it in your previous post I had to ask.

Please try and give as much detail as possible on your posts so we can resolve this that much more quickly.

As you've done that without result i'm now suggesting it could well be overheating.

Please download:

CPU-Z (This monitors your cpu's clock speed) please also keep this running in the background)
Core Temp (to monitor temperature)

SpeedFan (to monitor voltages).

Then set the downloads running at leave the pc at idle for 30 mins (don't even logon the internet) then play a game for 10 minutes and post the results of each of the 3 measures above for when the pc is at idle and for when the pc is gaming.

Please also post the exact specification of your pc. If it's a manufacturers build please give the manufacturers name and the pc's model number.

Nearly.

For the first one just boot into windows and leave the pc for a half hour.
and take the measures.

For the second one now play a game for 10 minutes
and take the measures.

Then post both sets of results.
