I was talking to Haun - Vista will use tons of ram for prefetching programs.

This may just be me, but I've noticed a lot of problems with Flash, in Vista and Linux distributions (not as much in XP).

As for the ram, Vista will use more, the more that there is available. It can run one GB, but runs better on two.

Sorry for a late reply, but in the meantime I have formatted my PC and installed Vista Ultimate. I am also starting to suspect that Adobe Flash (don't know if it is the player, any plugin or that ActiveX ) is guilty for PC restarts.

For vista you are going to want a lot more.
Nonsense.

With Average usage 2GB is fine.

With one of my PC's (this one actually) I push the boundaries by only having 1GB, but it works fine, I can run many applications at once, admittadly not as many as I would Ideally run but it is fine.

WLM, WMM, Opera, Firefox, MSN, WinPatrol, Avast all at once no problems whatsoever.

I do have to close a few of them (ok, all of them) if I want to run CS4 though...
