Hi i was wondering whether my computer is too hot

based on Speedfan

temp1=73c (looks like the chip i think)
HDD =41c
Core 0=25
Core 1=26
Core =64c (im pretty sure thats the gfx card)

(btw my gfx card is an XFX 8800gts 640mb. is it already overclocked?)

all temps at idle.

core 0 and 1 is your cpu and that is very cool indeed so thats not a problem. temp 1 is a bit concerning, to be sure carefully touch the heat sink on your chipset and see if it burns you or not, you could also use a tempresure monitor. if it is the chipset im geussing that the heatsink isnt mounted correctly and needs carefully remounting (if there is one that is, if not u can buy a cheapy from pc world)

the gfx card it quite nominal but if you are concerned about it the only practical thing you can really do is add a couple of fans to your case, i suggest that u get a pci fan that blows or sucks air to or from the graphics card.

Core 1 and 0 are cool because they're not seeing usage I suspect. Do you have any app's that can make use of 4 cores?

Temp 1 is rather high but it's par for the course for a quad without a decent hsf or liquid cooling. I said in a thread a while ago that 70c isn't rare for a quad on air.

I'd definately be looking at reducing that temp though. It shouldn't cause problems as it'll be running at stock voltage (unless you've some software in the pc that dynamically overclocks the pc based upon perceived load), but it could definately be lower.

Also, speedfan has been known to throw out spurious results on occasion. Have you tried coretemp for a comparison?

The card is overclocked.

um alex i dont have a quad core cpu. im running a core 2 duo 2.66ghz.
I have 3 fans in my case which came stock. One is at the front, 2 at the back. They are running at around 1000rpm.
I have a $30 cpu fan to replace the intel stock one.
Core Temp says im getting about 37-39c on my cpu
i touched the heatsink on the motherboard and it didnt burn me at all. i kept my finger there for about 10 seconds but it felt warm, not hot

I'd say you're fine, Temp1 is a little hot but if it's not burning you it's not burning silicon. My C2D runs idle at about 32C, as long as you're not hitting over 65C or so in full load you're alright.
