I'm normally ok with computers. But i need help.
When turning on my computer, after the BOIS,i have a problem where I just have a black screen. I have put the Windows XP CD into my computer, as i thought it might be a problem with my windows setup and maybe need to repair or even re-install windows. However, once it says "Press any key to boot from CD", i press my any key, and it is just the same black screen.
I have checked the set up of the cables, also removed any unessential hardware. But still nothing. Reset BIOS to defaults, yet nothing. I am currently using my Brother's computer, which it not a nice experience. Has more spyware and pop-ups than a hobo with nits.

Are the drives showing as being present when you enter BIOS and do you get a message when you try to boot without the windows CD in the optical drive.
