Default Upgrade or replace?

My work colleague has a 6 year old e machine PC using XP.
1.7 celeron with 128 RAM on dial up. (44-46k)
She complains it's slow when surfing!
Bearing in mind she only uses it occasionally for internet and email, should she replace with a new PC and go broadband or add more ram to current PC and go broadband?
Or something else?

Any thoughts?

Many thanks

Rob

Replace, even a cheap secondhand PC will destroy that one and if she ever wants to watch video etc it's a much better idea. No reason to get broadband if half the stuff you'll be loading will chug on 128MB RAM.

Replace, that thing doesnt even have enough ram to be standard 3 years ago. To be a half-decent machine these days, it needs at least 1gb of ram. Besides, it probably doesn't even support todays RAM sticks. It would be spending the current value of the computer to upgrade it.

IF all she wants to do is surf and e-mail just go broadband as the dialup is whats causing the slow surfing, but if she wants it for ANYTHING else buy new it's not worth upgrading a six year old PC.
