Default Upgrading...What's the best my computer is compatible with?

Hi.

I'm gonna upgrade my computer but I don't know if my motherboard supports new parts. I've been told that the best it will support is some of the higher end Core 2 Duo's, but I don't know who to believe... so I came here!

Ok, so my motherboard is (according to PC Wizard 2008) a Dell 0RY007

I currently have a Pentium E2104 (Dual core) @ 1.6GHz + 33 degrees C
1GB RAM
GeForce 8600GT

So what's the best my motherboard is compatible of, and if I upgrade will I have to get a better PSU or fan ect? I don't know how to find out my PSU wattage or CPU cooler sorry.
Also, if I have to get a new mobo is it hard to replace all of the stuff or will it be set out like my previous mobo?

Thank's in advance,

SHEPH3RD

Forgot to add: I'm wanting to upgrade to a quad-core and maybe an SLI setup with two 8800's. Is this possible?

Another thing lol... I have found this quad-core processor 2.4GHz for £160 is it any good? I thought it was quite cheap for such a thing... http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/s...html?IL-Q6600E
All of the other CPU's are also really cheap

The GPU's are also really cheap.. http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/d...ts.html?s=8800

Are Novatech reliable? Has anyone ever bought anything off of them?

After an exhaustive search I don't think it's a SLI board, but I'm unsure as to chipset. It is either P31 or P35 though. But stock P31 can only accept 1066mhz fsb core 2's (or lower), P35 1333mhz (or lower). This obviously has a bearing on cpu compatibility.

But as some third party manufacturers (Asus etc) add extra option's onto stock chipsets (Gigabyte, for instance, enable 1333mhz fsb cpu's on their P31 chipsets) that isn't really confirmed.

I'd ring Dell.

I saw the quad last night for £152, think it was on Overclockers. It's roundabout the general price for that cpu on every site.

The gpu's are also priced inline with other sites.

Just cheap for the performance, which as a consumer, can only be good.

Oops.

Yeah, I've used Novatech a number of times. Pretty good site, price and service-wise, generally.
