last couple of months my computer has been freezing randomly. sometimes 20 seconds after i log in, or sometimes 2 days. took it to Best Byte, a computer store near were i live and they looked at it. said it was the CPU and gave me a new, somewhat better one for no charge. got home. FROZE within 5 seconds of logging in. so i disconnected everything, external hardrive, graphics card, sound card ect. the computer ran fine, plug everything in one by one, sound card and graphics card are fine, no problems. USB however failed horribly. not even a minute after i booted up my external my computer froze. did the same for my iPod and my buddies external.

So far iv:

-re-installed driver for my external and restored my ipod (failed)

-uninstalled USB driver hosts and windows re-installed on the next start up (failed)

is there any other option to try?

any help would be much appreciated.

Do you know what PSU is fitted in the box ? ... if things are falling over, when you connect USB devices that pull power, it could be your PSU is not up to the job.

You could try a powered USB Hub ..... which has it's own power supply .... this may solve the issue.
