My USB ports on my Tiny laptop have stopped working. I cannot get online which is all that I really use the laptop for. The computer repairman 'so called' in the village reckons it is bafffleing him and doesn't know why it is happening.
Not sure if I should just buy a new one while the sales are on and throw it in the bin. Any ideas what the problem may be greatly appreciated. Regards graeme.

Assuming this is XP, go to Device Manager and uninstall the USB Controller(s) and reboot the system. XP will reinstall them automatically on reboot.
If it's a Windows glitch/corruption, this may flush it out.

Thanks for the reply I have gone into device manager but can't find the USB controllers. Device manager ends with System devices nothing else after this. On my desk top XP I have Universal Serial Bus controller after System devices but not on my laptop xp.. Regards Graeme

It sounds like the chipset drivers have become corrupted or deleted.
If this is a fairly old Laptop, you will need to install these from the original disks that came with the Laptop or search for them on the Manufacturers website.

Most motherboards with newer chipsets usually pick up USB support/drivers from the Operating system, but a few, such as those with Intel chipsets require a Chipset Software Installation Utility.

Tell us a bit more about the Make/Model/Age of the Laptop and the Operating System and Specs, if you know them.

Tiny E3000 DVD-RW 256 RAM 40Gb hard drive XP Operating system. It is 3 yrs old. I bought a 5 yr care plan of Time computers but they went bust. The reload CD i got with it will not solve the prob.

Try to identify the motherboard Make/Model, by downloading Everest Home from the download section on this site
.
With Tiny going out of business it's unlikely you are going to find much help, other than forum posts on other internet sites, from folks with similar issues.
Also, it is possible that this is a hardware issue and not driver related, but it sounds like it might be a long job determining which.
