What do you mean by a USB2 Card ? ... a memory card or a PCI USB Card ?

If it's a dodgy copy of XP, you wont get a lot of help here m8 (forum rules and all)

If it's a memory card, a proper working XP shouldn't need drivers, assuming SP1/2 is installed, if not that's probably why.

Is your copy of XP dodgy or is it a trial version?
Are you running SP2?

If you're saying that USB is not working, do you mean that you only got USB1.1? (In which case device manager will indicate that there is a problem with the USB host controller but USB actually works) or can't you get to any USB devices that all?

Wanted to upgrade to USB2 from the slower 1.1. the card is a PCI 5 port USB2 card. can use all other USB ports but not any on the new card.

WindowsXP out of the box does not support USB2.0. I'm not sure about Win-XP Service Pack1, but Service Pack2 has got USB2.0 built into it. Simply installing SP2 should give you USB2 support (provided that your hardware is comatible at least).

As for the PCI card, I would be surprised if its it not backwards compatible with USB1 so at least you should have your USB ports working on that one but on a slower rate. Then again, with some hardware manufacturers you never know. I'm hardly surprised about anything in the computer industry.

So here are the steps to follow in order to get USB2 working on your system:

1: Get a licence for Windows XP so we can be safe in the knowledge that we are not supporting people running pirated Windows versions.
2: Download an install Win-XP-SP2
3: If you still got problems getting USB2 to work or your PCI card is playing up, give us a shout for some further advise.

Cheers:
Chris

SP2 won't install on hooky windows, so you have little choice but to get a licence if you don't have SP2.
