My main computer is a Compaq Presario which has held up the last few years. It's running;

AMD Athlon 3000+
512MB DDR RAM
(I may have upgraded this, I honestly don't remember)
ATI Radeon 9200 128Mb graphics card

Everything else is onboard except the wireless controller card

I also have a Dell Inspirion wide-screen laptop

Both are running XP Home Edition. I did have XP Pro on the Compaq but took it off after corruption.

I have a Hewlett Packard.machine. I don't know much about it though as far as specs. I've been told I got a good deal on it. It's been running pretty well the whole time I've had it (more than a year). I'm having trouble with the mouse now though.

I've got a custom build based on what I could afford at the time, total was about £300, reusing my old keyboard, mouse and very old monitor.

I did a bit of research on the net to price up the bits I wanted, for a machine quick enough for what I needed it to do and what I could afford, with-out having to go for a cigarette break while waiting for it to do a task

I then took my spec sheet to my local shop and asked them to give me a quote on it.
They quoted £10 more than I could build it for, so they got the job.
A week later I went back and collected :-

1.15 GHz AMD Athlone,
120 Gb 7200 Maxtor HDD,
512 Mb RAM,
nVidia G Force 2 mx card,
on a PC Chips DDR 333 mobo.

Nothing special, even back then, but adequate for my needs and a huge step up from the 386 I had been using before this one.

Since then I've upgraded to a 160 Gb HDD, same spec otherwise, because the 120 gave up the ghost and I've put in another 256 RAM stick.

I'm considering a faster cpu, another 256 of ram and a better video card, possibly a decent sound card, but none of them are essential for the way I use it.

My first computer was a Commodore 64, with tape drive (an old cassette tape player).
Second was a 133MHz and then the 386
I've used C++, Windows 3.1 with DOS 6.2, Windows 95 and 98 and now XP Pro with sp2
