| Hi! I’ve been experiencing a problem with my gaming computer that I haven’t had before. Games that previously ran fine on my PC like Battlefield 2, Bioshock and Mass Effect are now experiencing graphical errors, flickering screens, and are crashing to the desktop at loading screens. I”ve de-dusted my PC and ran a full virus scan on Norton Antivirus, but the problems are still there. Is it time for a new videocard? Here are my system specs. Thanks for your help! AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ 2.01 GHz Performance Rated at 3.20 GHz 1023 MB RAM Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Build Service Pack 22600) NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT (GeForce 7900 GT) DirectX 9.0C Realtek AC97 Audio 20.3 GB free space DVD: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-W162Z |

| Graphical errors tend to denote one of three things: 1. Overheating. You've tried to rectify this, but you should check the temperatures of the GPU in RivaTuner or an equivalent program. 2. Bad video memory. This is rare but bad VRAM can cause corruption and freezes. 3. A bad power supply. A PSU that "goes out" doesn't necessarily just not work anymore - it may have a difficult time providing power and causing the video card to create artifacts. Check those temps first. Report back and tell me if the motherboard/video card is AGP or PCI-E. If it's the latter and you want to do a budget upgrade and don't want to hassle with (I imagine an expired) warranty on the video card in case it's failed, a 8800GT and 450W PSU will run you less than $175 CAD and perform much better than your current card as well.

"I loved the P182 so much that, when my wife's system was all noisy and needed all sorts of cleaning, I bought her one. Then, when I wanted a cat, I bought a P182. The P182 is not a cat per se, but it's still an excellent buy." My System: 日夏子
