i wonder why the ageia physx card never caught on. any reasons why?

nVIDIA saw that Ageia could be the next big company, and bought them out. The PhysX chips etc were integrated into the nVIDIA 8600 series onwards, so if you've got 2 or more in SLi, one can act like a PhysX card.

So really, it's still around, but in a different guise.

Oh, and even if you've just got one nVIDIA card, it can still handle the PhysX but obviously neither the PhysX or graphics are as good.

If you've got the latest drivers, go and look for a game called "Warmonger" which nVIDIA developed to showcase the PhysX capable cards.
