I posted recently about installation isuues! Well, i'm still having them. Thanks all who got back. Have tried this...

Got a NEW hard drive for this install. Arrived tuesday, so after work, tried to install my new vista.

Basic install worked. Had a desktop, functioning normally. Then...

Restarted to gain internet connection.
Loaded 30 updates (28 x Vista, 2 x Nvidia)
Restart
Install updates, 2 x Nvidia would not install before restart.
Restart

After this last restart; as i sign in with my password, as soon as the desktop appeared it instantly flicked to the 'Blue screen of Death' as i'm sure it's called.

PC restarts itself, followed by another blue screen affair as above..... Not very chuffed, you could say!

Spoke to work colleuge today who currently has no concrete ideas. Suggested re-install, gave me a list of drivers to update first (BIOS, Graphics).

Tried to re-install this evening.

PC booted from CD
Vista install
Gets to 'Expanding files 70%' ish and...

BLUE SCREEN AGAIN!!!

No specific blue screen info i'm afraid.

Any suggestions to make my PC Bloody well install Vista would be greatly appreciated.

Are you doing a full format on the drive pre install, try that or get the drive swapped out.

You can normally do a quick format and a full format.

A full format will rule the drive out or not.

Doubt it is the SATA cable.

What sort of RAM are you using? Make?

I have a pair of 1GB Corsair RAM sticks. Details are:

4-4-4-12
800MHz
1024MB
XMS2-6400

Does that help?

I am now going to try an install AGAIN but using only 1 stick of RAM. See if that helps as have read elsewhere it may do.

<fingers crossed>

Will check back later

Have you tried manually setting you RAM Voltage to 2.1V and the timings to 4-4-4-12?

If not, look in your motherboard manual and change them manually.
