Web sever?

Or Small Business Server?

Or a web server for 60 users?

Normally web servers have a greatly varying amount of users.

You need to be way more specific if you want advice.

Yeah, that's what threw me, a web server is used typically to host an online website, normally aimed at more than 60 users. I assume you mean a server for an office network that be will be used for Internet access?

thanks for the advice and i totally agree with you, school modules are not that informative and was hoping to understand the principles of a backup server and how it works.
e.g. tape drives/disk backup.

That was just a can that we post whenever a college assignment comes up.

Backup server - thats a pretty vague statement. What exactly are you backing up?

Normally the server are just backed up, either to tape or disk drives, daily monthly and quarterly.

Tape drives - still the most reliable, but declining slowly possibly. Very high capacity tapes due out soon, good price/GB.

Disk drives - still can fail, not a long term backup.
