Well we all know the computer world is pretty much going wireless. But is it really necessary? I mean there are its advantages, less wires laying around, convinience, among others. But is it really worth buying new stuff just because its new? you will never have to plug in a wired mouse, or worry about someone using all your bandwith from a wired router, or worrying about being able to throw your mouse and not be able to real it back in when you get mad at a game. personally i dont really have a preference, I just dont want to have to keep recharging things. What do you think?

All my mice broke due to the wire getting caught and bent it drove me mad when it snaged all the time. I dont mind the battery recharge. I was going to have a wireless network to render 3D frames between two computers. A wireless network is miles slower I can get 1GB per second with the network I have setup.

| IMO Stick to wired unless you HAVE to use wireless. My wired mouse never runs out of batteries. My wired network connection never disconnects. Dave.

Wireless is and advantage IMHO. Plenty of wireless networks are juts as reliable as ethernet or phone line based ones and having a wireless card saves me the cost of a paper each day as I read the news online instead. That said, I will not pay exyra for it. I get ot free in cafes and an campus but at home I use a free university dial up and it still does the job fine. I do think that websites shouldn;t assume everyone has a fast connection.

Well I went and bought a mouse this weekend and I still stayed with the wired ones, just updated to optical. I never had a problem with it getting snaged so I guess ill just stick with the old saying, if its not broke then dont fix it. Wired still works great for me.

I prefer wireless, all though when I run out of batteries it is usually when I am in the middle of something so I am often wishing that I had a spare wired mouse. That's a point I might get one as a backup as my wireless software is not being very reliable at the moment.

I have wireless mouse and keyboard and it always runs out of batteries! I had to switch back to my old wired mouse because of this situation. Stick with wireless, unless you have an unlimited amount of batteries to use.

I got a fast battery charger for £30 I have'nt baught new batteries for two years. A charger is a must if you go wireless for mice. A wireless mouse is nicer to use. Cables take up desk space and snag on things. The only problem is swopping the batteries with the ones in the charger once every 3 days.

I have a wireless mouse - the charging cradle is dodgy, so it can be quite irritating messing around putting the thing in, taking it out, tilting it all over the place trying to get the contacts to register. I refuse to buy wireless controllers for gamepads because of that problem, and because I hate having to worry about charging things. I'm not a fan of wireless internet either - I have friends with it and the signal strength isn't good enough to reach across more than one room. I'd have thought it would be better since they're using a Linksys router, but they lose connection all the time. Sure, wired may be messier, but at least its reliable :)

The thing about wirse mice is that you have to frequently replace tha battery if you use the mouse often (unless you have one of those chargers where you can just stick the mouse onto it). Most wireless mice recommend that you dont use rechargable batteries, so you will have to keep going out and buying new batteries. I suggest using a wired optical mouse.

I've been using my wireless mouse for 3 years with recharable batteries it's working as good as it's always done. A 10 second swop with the batteries in the charger once every 3 days is painless and worth not having to drag a wire around .
