The 8600GT is generally ok at gaming at 1280x1024. But not with a lot of eye-candy, and the frame rates don't tend to be the greatest. Although, it does tend to breach the minimum (or my minimum) of 25fps pretty consistently.

This is of course game dependent.

The trouble is that two of these cards, even in sli coded games won't allow you to move to the next resolution up, you'll still be stuck at 1280x1024, just with a bit more eye-candy and and maybe an extra 5fps.

Plus, to purchase separately you could get a X3850 or a 256mb 8800GT. Both of which can game at 1680x1050, again, without lots of eye candy. But they trounce 1280x1024.

And you'd get the performance boost over dual-8600gt's in games not coded for sli and games coded for sli.

Plus, you'd be better with a dual core core 2, maybe the E6750, or E6850 if Novatech offer it in a build as it's around the same price to buy as the Q6600.

The Vista Home Premium build is £878.99. The novatech system also has a one year return to base warranty. Which is crap. This means you'll have to pay for any carriage charges (and insurance) to and from your house to the company should the system become faulty. As these things weigh around 20kg it won't be cheap.

So using that as a benchmark:

£763.82

And try here

Or there's the build I've spec'd, below, from www.pcspecialist.co.uk. (superb site).
