You need to install the OS as x64 when you install it.

When you boot from the disc, it will give you options for what to install. Say you buy a Ultimate, you can install anything from Home Premium x86 to Ultimate x64

Just back up your data (if on the same drive) and format and install. Then select [version of 7] x64

    Any further problems, just ask.
    Ollie.

If you have a Retail (shop bought) version of Windows 7, it will come with 2 x seperate disks .... 1 for 32bit and one for 64bit.

Obviously you can only install one on the license.

    Oh really?

Didn't know that. Pretty sure Vista was all on one, no?

Vista/7 have all SKUs on one disk, except 32-bit/64-bit versions which are on separate disks. The difference between, say, Professional and Home Premium are small, but the difference between 64-bit and 32-bit builds of the entire OS is huge.
"I loved the P182 so much that, when my wife's system was all noisy and needed all sorts of cleaning, I bought her one. Then, when I wanted a cat, I bought a P182. The P182 is not a cat per se, but it's still an excellent buy."
