So, I have had to reformat twice since I bought my computer. The most recent backup file was simple, I just took ownership over the files and deleted them, clean and simple. The first backup file, however, is a little over a year old and I am unable to delete one of the hidden recycler bins under the my backup\recycler directory and i get the same error every time: "cannot delete dc22: access is denied. make sure the file is not full or write protected."
I'm having many problems with this stupid thing. I've set my folder to show all hidden files/folders, as well as the hidden system folders and whatnot. This recycler bin still shows up empty, but for some reason when I right click and check properties, it still has 39 files and 50 folders in it, ammounting to 70mb of space. The space is not the issue obviously, but I would much like to just get rid of this annoying folder and this is the only thing stopping me. I've tried claiming ownership. I've tried running the dos prompt via start>run>cmd and deleting files that way. The problem is, the computer can't find any files to delete. If anyone knows how to go about fixing this I would much appreciate it. The "all-knowing" computer techs at gateway and microsoft simply suggest the things I have already explained the them I have tried. (And yes, I have tried running the dos prompt to delete the files while ending the explorer.exe process temporarily, but no luck there either.) |

***UPDATE***
I was able to make some progess through DOS. I got into the directory located in c:\my backup\recycler\s-1-5-21...etc\ I was able to delete all the files contained in this directory, but what is left over is more directories (like dc22,dc8,dc9, etc..) I am unable to enter these directories through dos though, when I try access is denied. When I try deleting these subdirectories, it says the system cannot find the file specified. So I'm down to just the subdirectories at least, but these are the ones giving me all the trouble in the first place I believe. Any help is appreciated. |

If you can give me the exact whole path to each one I might be able to help.
