Ok as some of you know i killed my computer some how. I think it was a combo of having to hard uninstall office 2007 trial with Revo Uninstaller, then deleting the the 'deleting' files with DataRecovery, then using CCleaner to clean the Reg.

Now that I have Vista i am slightly concerned with the safety of using the CCleaner Reg cleaner. This may just be paranoia on my part, but I Really dont want to have to go through what happened before. We didnt even fix it before.

So does anyone know how safe it is?

Registry cleaners really aren't needed. Any registry cleaner always has a slight danger to using it.
Besides the speed gained from cleaning a registry is so minimal that a human would most likely never notice the difference.

If you aren't 100% sure on what's being removed then just simply don't use the registry cleaner.

As above - Ditto.....

IMHO The benefits of running such software is barely noticable and causes more problems than it solves. If you are to play with reg cleaners then back up your registry prior to cleaning using Erunt. Erunt can be found here - http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

A couple of intersting articles for you ponder over...

I have recently snafu'd my computer as well. I had problems but they were minor until a friend recommended cleaning the registry with CC. I now have major problems which I think will result in having to do a completely new windows install which I was trying to avoid as there are several legitimate programs (all bought and paid for) which I no longer have the serials etc for. Yes I know if I get in touch with Adobe etc they will help, but I'm not looking forward to it.
I am going to put a cat among the pigeons here though with my next statement and please don't anybody take it the wrong way. I have never successfully resolved a problem via a forum either. I think you just have to fall in lucky by having someone with more advanced knowledge than you have, who happens to have the same setup. If you have a box of crap like mine you get desperate and will try anything even registry cleaners. Your damned if you do and your damned if you don't, as they say.
