| How do I change my Current Transfer Mode from PIO Mode to DMA? At present it reads PIO with DMA if available. I wish to have DMA for reading past forums it says that will speed up a very slow running computer. Thanks. Chris. |

| OK, This is why your PC is slow.

PIO makes your PC run at like 5% of its potential. Windows automatically puts you on this mode if you dont shut your PC down properly or if it crashes a lot. See this thread for how to change it. http://www.thecomputerforums.co.uk/f...dn-t-t639.html My System: Hybr!d

| Thanks, I did infact read this post, got to the correct place to check what mode it was running in, but couldn't work out how to change it back to the faster mode, there didn't seem to be an option. |

| Right click Primary IDE Controller and delete it, you will need to reboot and it will reinstall itself in DMA. |
