Default Computer Reboot Issue

Ok, I'm not exactly sure if this is the appropriate forum, but I don't know where else it would go, so feel free to move it if there is a better place.

I recently built a desktop, Nvidia SLI 680i, Q6600, 2GB OCZ SLI, 8800GT, XP Pro, 500GB, 600 watt PS, and I can get you any other specs you need. All supplied drivers and updates have been installed (including OS updates from Microsoft).

When I boot up my computer, it takes me to a black background and white text startup screen showing memory speed, etc, and it makes me press F1 to continue to boot the OS, or I can enter the BIOS. The build was finished in late January and I've noticed that every so many times I turn it on (say every dozen or less), it gets to this screen, then quickly flashes a blue screen filled with text (but not long enough to read anything on it), then restarts itself.

When it starts up again, it is usually fine, and when the OS loads, it displays a "Fatal Error - Computer needed to be restarted - Report?" type message that I can just click away and be done with (or report if I want).

It also may be a separate issue, but about as often, the drivers or software for my Belkin wireless USB adapter doesn't seem to load or display the little icons in the bottom right corner of the screen. A single restart solves this issue 99% of the time. Perhaps this is just an issue with the Belkin software, but I figured I'd mention it since these are the only two issues/symptoms I'm having.

I'm still fairly new to the computer buiding scene and apologize if these issues are common or may have been mentioned somewhere else I missed. Any help would be appreciated since it's frustrating to have a brand new computer that gives me fatal errors at random.

Joe

what precautions did you take when building the desktop? Also have you tried booting from xp disk and either reinstalling windows or repair?

What do you mean by "precautions"? And I have not tried either of the things you mentioned because the fact that it does it before Windows boots makes me think it's probably not Windows related, but I suppose I could be wrong on that assumption.

It will also be a major pain to reload windows if it will get rid of all of my software, documents, and files. Is this the case?

Uninstall the belkin software and see if that fixes it...
