I typed "Computer diagnostic programs" in Google and found a plethora of programs for sale. How to tell which ones are good and which ones are rip offs, I can't tell you. I would suggest doing the same search, checking out the options and then checking with some repair shops to see what they say.

Here is an example: http://www.pc-doctor.com

NOTE: This is an EXAMPLE of what you can find on line, not a recommendation or endorsement. I know absolutely NOTHING about this product, it was merely one of the first ones to pop up on google that wasn't an overtly paid for listing.

Never used any specific diagnostic software in running my company or working for any others.

You just don't need it nor are they any good.

Just learn how to fix computers...

For example if the computer is slow and has a lot of browser pop-ups, clean it up with a virus and spyware scan.

If it powers on but nothing displays on screen change the PSU.

This is basic PC repair and no software can do it for you.

You will need to put in the effort and learn how to do the work.

The only progs I would suggest are the diagnostics provided by hard disk manufacturers. They can be very useful and prevent you mistakenly throwing out an otherwise working HDD.

All that's been said is good stuff.. just one question on whether you actually have the knowledge as Alex said to do this, or whether you are merely asking us for free knowledge then applying it and getting paid? :S
