| Ok.. let me get this straight... You're fixing peoples computers other than you're family and friends as of you're original post. And as of you're latest post you're doing such a thing for free?

| Fixing other peoples machines for free is never a good idea, especially when you don't really know what you're doing.

| A few tools to have in your box are :
__________________
Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool or MemTest Hard Drive Manufacturer's Diagnostic Tools, as mentioned above. Puppy Linux Disk... ideal for recovering Data from non bootable Windows machines Also build up a stock of spare parts ...... sometimes you can salvage these from non working machines. Diagnosing a fault, comes with time and experience and if you dont have access to spare parts a process of elimination approach needs to be applied, trying the most likely and cheapest parts first . | Most tricks of the trade comes with experience on the job, I tend to carry a USB stick around with me with programs I am most likely to use which is constantly kept updated. If you want to get serious about computer repairs then try going to night school at your local college and start learning a bit more from there, at least then you will then also get qualifications to add to your name.

| I'm not trying to give the third degree so apologies if it comes across that way - we're just trying to help and show that maybe you should be charging for your services. The above to comments among others are good, in all seriousness just stick with the site, hang out here a bit you'll pick up loads just from looking at other peoples problems and the solutions to them.

| One other thing, if your not 100% confident in your computer knowledge maybe you should put the whole repair idea of for a while? I only know how to take an engine apart but ask me to put it back together again and you'll find out why I'm not a mechanic |
