Default CPU Temperature Monitor

you read it. and you know what i'm looking for. i want something that can run in the background and monitor the temperatures of my cpu, and maybe my graphics card. speed fan has tended to be unreliable so i'm not sure if i want to go down that road.

and i've tried everest before but that didn't seem to have temperature monitors. i could've been wrong though. anybody care to enlighten me some please?

Default CPU Temperature Monitor

Everest does have temp monitors, they are displayed in the toolbar when you run the program or within the program if you click computer/sensor.
Perhaps the free version is restricted somehow,I dont know.

cew, you're not the only one. i'm fairly OCD about that sort of crap too.

in terms of icons...here's how OCD i am...i keep all my icons at the very top of my desktop. that's just the start. part two: i haven't got enough icons to fill exactly one line. so i divide up the icons by two. half on one side. half on the other. and i have firefox exactly in the middle.

the icons that i've got divided are organized by type, color, and frequency of usage.

that's pretty OCD, yeah? ^^;;;

but anyway...yeah i tried speedfan, but i've heard that everest is far more reliable in terms of temps and voltages. so i'll try everest.

i dunno. when i tried everest, it was on my old setup. perhaps it was too old to have any fancy temperature censors in it that everest could recognize. hence why i was confused by it and eventually erased it and never tried it again. also why i thought it didn't have cpu temps in it.

i've gone so far as to find a widget that helps me identify cpu temperature and stuff like that. but eventually i found a widget that needed speedfan to operate. and that's when i had enough of that. understandably.

so as i said. everest for now. and i'll get back to you about whether i like it or not.

hm...i can't find a free version of everest. and i simply haven't got money. and i'm typically not willing to spend money on software that's not critical to my survival.

so i tried CoreTemp. and i have to say. i like it. and the results are drastically different from speedfan showed.

speedfan showed both my cores were operating at about 24-25 degrees Celcius. everest shows about 39-43 degrees celcius. which to me sounds roughly accurate.

i think coretemp is a keeper :)

despite being OCD about my icons and stuff, i occasionally manage to forget my keys and phone and other important items i need for outside of the house. :(

and those are day ruining things. for example: i commute to my campus by bike. and if i forget my keys, i can't tie up my bike. and theft in that area is sadly high for bikes. so if i forget my keys, i'm screwed unless i have a friend to help me out or i go back for the keys.

I can totally relate to the icons and stuff.

I'm like that by nature though, when I turn the TV up I have a thing about what number it is on an I can't leave draws half open and stuff.

I call it being a perfectionist or tidy, you may call it something different.

i'm exactly the same way. i have such perfectionist tendencies. i like doors to be closed both for noise dampening so my parents don't complain about loud music, and out of sheer privacy because i get next to none.

same with cupboards. those must be closed. partially because i occasionally whack my head on them if they're open. i'll bend down to pick up something like a pan, and then stand up and whack my head on the baking materials cabinet or something

for me, the tv volume fluctuates with the program i'm watching. occasionally sound will dip or rise with different shows or stations, and i like everything to be exactly the same volume. loud enough, but not loud to the point where i'm uncomfortable or i'm bugging my neighbors.

oh and as for MBM5, i tried it but it doesn't have my motherboard supported. so i can't use it anyhow. besides. i think coretemp is good enough since it shows the temps, it runs in the background, and if i wanna check it i can just scroll my mouse to the start bar and look. it's good enough.

Ah see link, if you had of gotten the ASUS motherboard you would have had their asus prob. Which stays in the background so that you can see what all your temps are. Just doesn't read the GPU temps. But sadly you did not get a asus. lol
but I will have to try that core temp cuse I don't have anyway to read my GPU temps.
