Default Cpu usage?

i noticed i was using 100% of it so i went to task manager proses tab and saw that what was using it most was winlogon.exe is it safe to end this? it is the SYSTEM one...

no. How much RAM do you have? what core do you have? what OS are you using?

intel p4 3ghz 1gb ram xp sp2 now it is using around like 78 through 95 my cpu cooler must be very good if it is running like this for like 7hrs

It is way too high. An idle CPU should be <15%. Have you enabled hyperthreading? Are you sure you werent running anything in the background?
(btw no it is not safe to end it.)
Are you sure the cpu was really using that much? It could be that you have to many programs that startup with the computer.

Delete winlogon.exe and you won't be logging on to your system.

Go to start > Run > type services.msc and then press enter > disable any undeeded services (Note you can't disable system services here, so don't worry).

Do you have ad-aware 2007 installed?

I have noticed this happen quite often. A restart always stops it.

I guess there are still bugs in the Windoze OS that causes these system programs to lock up occasionally.
