Has anyone got experience of changing partitions without formatting? There are the usual commercial ones such as Partition Magic but also some free ones such as Ranish Partition Manager, Partition Logic etc. Are the free ones reliable or do they disappear your data?

Got to admit I've not used the free ones but Partition Magic works well, used it for years through the various upgrades and never lost a byte.

guitar example came from an incident of my own, bought a 'mint condition' guitar and found a week later the pickups had been gaffa taped back in place. tut tut. it was a part exchange so i couldnt take it back.
