Default dll problem

I got a error when trying to install Civ 3 on my computer. It has never been on this computer before. When I got this computer I wanted to go back to Internet Explorer 6, but tech said that there was a image that was installed so I wouldn't be able to do this. The error message is pasted below. Also I was wondering what exactly a windows image is?

Utorun.exe – Bad Image

The application of DLL D:\MSVBVM60.DLL is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette

Well what i would do - run a virus scan, both virus and spyware and see what comes up and also i would make sure you have all the updates for the OS.

Also is D: your main Hard Drive with windows on it????

Best not to do have windows on a D: best to have it as C.

Also i would maybe contact microsoft and see if they could help you.

Utorun.exe
Is this spelled right? You shure it's it not Autorun.exe?

MSVB = Microsoft Visual Basic http://support.microsoft.com/ph/2971

If it is Autorun.exe then it would make a difference.

Go to this forum http://www.thecomputerforums.co.uk/f49/

Post a Hijackthis log in there. It should only take a minute to rule in or out malware.
Download and rename HijackThis (HJT)
  • Double-click on HJTInstall.
  • Click on the Install button.
  • It will automatically place HJT in C:\Program Files\TrendMicro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe.
  • Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.
    • Close HijackThis and rename it.
    • Go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.exe
    • Right click on HijackThis.exe and select Rename.
    • Type in sniper.exe and press Enter.
    • Right-click on sniper.exe and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut)
  • From the desktop open HiajckThis.
  • If using Windows Vista, be sure to Run As Administrator
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button
  • HijackThis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
  • Copy and then paste the log in your post.
    • Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
Even though we have renamed HijackThis to sniper, we will still refer to it as HijackThis or HJT.

Post this in the Security forum from the link above.
