I have both programs, and was wondering which is the most efficient. I have for a fact, gotten rid of a couple of Windows errors with RegCure but, haven't used the Registry Booster yet. Thanks!

Well, I would have to agree if, I had not gotten rid of the error saying your computer has just recovered from a serious error over and over. I think it kind of like antispyware, antivirus, etc. they all have their pros, and cons. for my pc skills at that particular time, the program was a life saver for me. I think it depends a lot on the individuals skill level. myself, I'm better at repairing TVs and High End home audio equipment I'm just starting in computers for more of a hobby than anything, since I'm now retired/ disabled. but, I do know some of the software programs can do more harm than good. I like to do everything my skills will allow, by hand if possible. Thanks for your opinions!

Actually it depends on the issue at hand. If a registry cleaner actually fixes an error count yourself extremely lucky. Normally a registry cleaner is the first step to many, many new errors. They shouldn't be used to fix errors. Since they look for empty reg keys they very often remove something that was actually needed and the PC is no longer bootable.

Also, a Windows disk is what repairs a computer. By replacing the missing/corrupt files. No registry cleaner can "repair" Windows. They don't have the operating system files to do so and MS would sue them blind if they tried to add them.

I never use reg cleaners ..... way too dangerous for my liking. I like to personally control any changes to the registry and would always back up the registry, before any editing. I would never trust a program to do this.

As evil said, there are lots of ways to fix a broken box, without the need for these.

Glad everyone chimed in, I was about ready to purchase the Registry Mechanic advertised at the top of this page! I make a few registry mods by hand after a full backup, for certain memory, speed tweaks, etc. usually since with dialup, I need all the help I can get Thanks!

The only registry products I recommend are ERUNT & NTREGOPT.
ERUNT is a programme that will create automatic backups of your Registry. These backups can be used to help restore your system in the event of a serious crash.
NTREGOPT will compact and optimise your Registry, to assist the smooth running of your system.

i'd stay stick with something simple and free like ccleaner, reg cleaners can be dangerous, a friend of mine used uniblue and it really messed up his system, i tried system restore and other alternative ways to get things the way they were but i had to resort to formatting the computer.
