Hi
the speaker icon that normally sits in the bottom right hand corner,in the taskbar of my Dell laptop, has disappeared. So I right hand clicked on the start menu and went to 'properties' and clicked on the 'customise' button etc where you can get it to display things like the sound icon. I told it to 'show always' and still it doesnt appear. I also went into the control panel to the sound settings and ironically the box is ticked, telling it to display the volume icon in the task bar ! So this is a bit of a mystery and just wondered if anyone else had any ideas ?? (its a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop using Win XP SP3) thanks |

This is common on all PCs. A restart usually cures it.

Do you have systray.exe present? (Or, just systray)
Check using Ctrl-Alt-Del You could also try this.. Go into control panel>add/remove programs>windows setup>multimedia>scroll go down to vol control (if it is uncheck recheck it)(if it is checked unckeck it) click ok out of add/remove programs>go back into add/remove programs and recheck it and ok out of add/remove) reboot and see if that works! |

Another thing to try is..
Add/Remove windows system components and uncheck the UPNP box. Then restart |
