Here is a list and links to the software I use to keep my PC running smooth and trouble free
And the best thing is, all this software is free and legal

Comodo Firewall
This is the best Firewall I have ever used
Quote:
*PC Magazine Online's Editor's Choice
*Secures against internal and external attacks
*Blocks internet access to malicious Trojan programs
*Safeguards your Personal data against theft
*Delivers total end-point security for Personal Computers and Networks
Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic
This antivirus is on par with the best out there
Quote:
*Protection against viruses, worms and Trojans
*Protection against expensive dialers and phishing
*Detects and deletes rootkits
Spyware Doctor
This program has found things were many others have failed
Quote:
*Award-winning protection
*Spyware protection
*Adware protection
*Smart Updates
*Scan and Remove
*OnGuard Protection
*FileGuard
*Immunizer
Now the only way to avail of this product for free is to install another program called Google pack
Within that you can get a few programs for free but the best is Spyware Doctor

Advanced WindowsCare Personal
I know there are alot of registry cleaner and the likes on the market today, but I can guarantee that this will clean and speed up your system like no other
Quote:
Slow down, freeze, crash, and security threats are over. Advanced WindowsCare Personal is an all-in-one PC care utility that takes a one-click approach to help protect, repair, and optimize your computer. Scanning and finding what other utilities miss, it can keep your PC error-free and running smooth than ever. Advanced WindowsCare Personal is designed for Windows Vista, XP and 2000.
Last but not least
FreeRam XP Pro
A great little ram optimiser
Quote:
FreeRAM XP Pro includes automatic memory monitoring and optimization; advanced tray support; fast, threaded freeing with a stop option; multiple system-metric monitors; a simple and attractive GUI; memory reporting and diagnostic logging; and real-time memory information. FreeRAM XP Pro's AutoFree feature intelligently scales how much RAM is freed with your current system status, thus optimizing RAM without slowing down your computer
I have been using all of the above now for the past 6 months and my computer has never run as smooth and trouble free and would highly recommend the same setup to anyone:)

great spyware program to your list

and well as windows in a box

Ever get tired of searching for a setting inside the control panel?Inside Windows Xp are hundreds of settings that require endless clicking through the Operating System that can get really frustrating.Windows in a box was designed to eliminate all that.Sits on your desktop, easy to navigate, and puts an end to all the frustration of endless searching for settings.Spyware,Adware, and Malware free.

Spywareblaster: I have never really liked programs that just run in the background without any knowledge of what its doing, also it has no auto update or scanner, so if something gets through its tough luck:o

Valid points, it's never done me any harm though and I've been running it for about a year. Plus if something gets through, it's probably its fault in the first place :o
I stand fully behind firefox and ad-aware though, I run ad aware pro actually :D
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on spywareblaster
